Christmas Wrapping

This just came on the radio - I've never liked it much, though this time it sounded good - but it struck me that it's structure (verse-instrumental chorus-verse) is kind of unusual for a pop hit though it works fine. What other big hits* can you think of where the 'chorus' is wordless?

*not that Teh Waitresses were actually a big hit but its afterlife has elevated its status a bit

the SPICE GIRLS version is very odd.

a&p becomes tesco
the all night grocery becomes the all night garage
whoever sings the "cranberry" line (my guess = victoria), completely @rses it up, due to vaguely attempting not to say CRAN-berry

What song are we talking about here? Is there a song called Christmas Wrapping? I've not heard the SG version. Probably. Unless it was on their last album and I've just edited it out of my mind.

This is NOT ONLY my favourite Xmas single but one of my top five singles of all time period.

And it does have a chorus, the "Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas" bit - only it is CUNNINGLY DISGUISED and has different lyrics the two times that it's sung (ergo "not a chorus" you might say but you'd be WRONG innit)

Aye - "Merry Christmas, Merry Christmas, But I think I'll miss this one this year." Best wobs sentiment evah!

wordless chorus = Whistle 'Nothin' Serious (Jus Buggin)

unless 'BOH' counts as a word :)

Here's a short, short Xmas film I made that uses part of the Waitresses track for it's soundtrack.

Please share the link, all of you, wide and far as the film only has one more week before it's out season and I'll be expected to retire it.
