Ne-Yo!

I may post a full review of Year of the Gentleman later, when I've sorted out my thoughts more fully, but for now, this highlight:

Completely no-frills, production very conservative, but seriously, all it needs is that 24-karat bassline and itself. (I'm inclined to say at this point that it's one of the best things he's done since In My Own Words, but I traditionally don't trust my word on such things until a week on at a minimum, haha.) Definitely a grower, mind: took me a few times for it to hit me, because its simplicity made it easy to overlook.

Hot damn, that's amazing.

I didn't really like Ne-yo's last album at all, 'Closer' and this are amazing, though; I definitely think I'll check it out. He's melded dance influence and his own style really well.

I really can't form sentences. I meant that I think I'll check 'Year Of The Gentleman' out.

The album is pretty fantastic IMO.

Yes, this is one of my favourites off the album too - 'So You Can Cry' and 'Mad' are gorgeous too. 'Fade Into The Background' is probably the pinnacle of Ne-Yo's chivalry though!

If Ne-Yo keeps doing awesome choones like this I may have to start overlooking the fact that I find his voice mildly unsettling and buy his bloody album (of which a full review is very welcome btw!)
