The History Of Pop Part 9 aka Wo oh oh my guy the DJ after midnight
A close poll for Now 8 saw Run DMC come out winners with a record 30 tiXoRs - Cameo in second, and the Pet Shops and Mel and Kim in third. Glancing over the wurstvotes it seems that poor Nick Berry carries off the sausage.
And now onto Now 9. Early 87: a problematic time for pop in some ways, with questions being asked inthe House the press over the sudden ad-inspired influx of old pop in the charts. I genuinely have no idea what's going to win this. Notice though the first sniffs of HOUSE MUSIC ALL NIGHT LONG coming to save us from Kamen et all. UB40 and Genesis provide an air of cosy familiarity in this brave new cyberworld, though.

anyway, it's not that bad, but it does come after a very strong run of Nows. I think it compares quite well to recent Nows for egg.
Rockism confessional: I absolutely HATED "jack yr body" when it came out. i was not keen on this new sound. i was won round slowly.

The real actual single mix of Jack Yr Body as being a hata at the time I am never sure if the version I have for Popular is the 'right' one.

who the hell are the sodding Ward brothers?
why is Gary Moore on a NOW yet AGANE??!
'Jack Your Body' will always be good.
but come on, Livin On A Prayer! the second best 'hair metal pop' song of 1987 (before Europe, but after Def Leppard and the Mighty Mutt's 'Animal')

People who do not like "Live It Up", "Living On A Prayer" or "The Final Countdown" are mental.
A-Ha really never put out a bad single, though "Velvet" from 2000 was a bit naff for various reasons.
Do any non-Brits like The Housemartins in any capacity?
Alcazar has not redeemed "Land Of Confusion" fully, yet.

Agreed about the Final Countdown, if Taffy is going to be robbed then it should be the winner here.

I own "Reet Petite" and that's all.
"Trick Of The Night" initially got left off the Bananarama grebtest hits comp, so I don't even have that!
