Single of the Year 2008

I am prepared to stake my reputation on the line here and say that this will be this summer's indie-crossover smash hit. It's an unbelievably infectious pop song from the Mystery Jets. The follow-up to the equally excellent 'Young Love' which featured Laura Marling, for your viewing pleasure, this is 'Two Doors Down'.

Any thoughts? Does this have #1 potential?

Oh cripes, there's a guy in my office who sometimes plays this ten times a day while exclaiming "This is going to be number one!". Therefore I never want to hear it again, but it is a nice wee pop tune.

Good grief what a dreadful video!

Once I minimised the window I enjoyed it a lot more, still too retro for my liking tho - would slot in nicely on Disc 3 of a Disky Greatest Hits Of The 80s Compilation.

It'll go top 10 with radio backing but not #1, I'd guess.

between this and alphabeat, is this a video 'trend'?

For me, not nearly as good as Young Love. Lacks the subtlety. Still a nice tune, but a bit in your face for my liking.

I quite like the production - reminds me of a lot of 80s stuff. But the vocals are a bit irritating. I would prefer if he sang lower or maybe more like the Psychedelic Furs dude (or...Lloyd Cole?).
