on the subject of mixes, Ellen Allien's impending Boogybytes Vol 4 (http://www.residentadvisor.net/news.aspx?id=9079) is blowing my mind at the moment and I was going to post as such today. Completely different to Fabric 34 which was all dark and menacing, this is like some amazing plateau of sensuality.

I thought the Fabric mix was dull as ditchwater and I don't really rate Ellen as a DJ. Given you have a better handle on my taste in dance music than most, am I likely to like this? I have such an enormous backlog of mixes to listen to now that I'm pretty much blocked on listening to ANY of them.

I never have time to listen to mixes and really don't know how anyone does! though already this year I've heard two better than any last year (Ellen's Boogybytes and Junior Boys' Body Language).

I think Ellen's studio mixes >>>>>> Ellen's DJ sets b/c she so obviously puts a ton of thought into what she wants to aim for (whereas the last time I saw her DJ at Fabric she was so bad that the whole of Room 1 actually came to a halt, I did not think that was possible). They always sound so completely different to anyone else's. I think you'd like this! It's very high and melodic and sensual.

"zing" was a word before those people decided to use it, and they're not impt enough to have any bearing on its meaning or connotations.

Yes I know. I have heard tell of this record beforehand but haven't actually got round to hearing it yet. I may download it tonight between home and pub if it doesn't magically end up in my Gmail before then.

oh what time are you getting to pub? haven't decided whether to go straight from work or not (nb: will be carrying suit with me if coming from work).

you should also check out 'A Black Man In Space' by Son Of Raw (the Sax Mix for preference) and 'Sunset' by Jenifa Mayanja too. you've heard Roland Appel and Lucio Aquilina, yeah?
