She takes me into fantasy

This young chap is called Darin Zanyar. He looks about twelve but is apparently 19, and this track 'Insanity' has been troubling the lower reaches of the German charts for the last couple of months. Darin had a chart-topper in Sweden a couple of years back when he still had braces. One to look out for, perhaps?

IMPORTANT POPTIMIST FACT: The song "Money For Nothing", in which he still had braces, was written by none other than Robyn!

...and in further Scando-pop news, Bertine Zetlitz is back with a new song (from her forthcoming Greatest Hits). And it's great, as always:

[livejournal.com profile] poptasticuk sent this to me ages ago, it's bloody ace innit? Like a one-man *NSync. 'B What U Wanna B' (or some similar grammatical nightmare) is also ace, although I don't actually like 'Money For Nothing.'

He is kind of fit.

Yes, "B What U Wanna B" is terrific, though I don't think it was ever a single. It made one of my mixtapes. It's about career choices.

Most overlooked advertising soundtrack song ever.

"Policeman, firefighter, or a postman, why not something like your old man, u can b just the 1 u wanna b." Has a kid's chorus that for once sounds really good. Stupendously sweet without sounding gooey.

In further Darin-related yootubery

(in which you all get to suffer for the fact that the boy's been unavoidable in Finland since his debut)

Also check out Want Ya! from the other year, which features A DANCE-OFF IN A PARKING GARAGE, awesome. (There was a lot of that going around in videos at the time, actually.) And also the song is pretty damn hot.

The video for the latest album's lead single Perfect, conversely, is very, very dorky, but it's balanced out by the sheer spun-sugar bubblegum perfection (haha) of the song itself. (...and why did I never buy these, srsly?)

You should check my blogs, as this kind of thing is most of what I talk about. Darin is a big fave of mine - Insanity is just the tip of the iceberg of his aceness.
