Reminder

You have one day - and a cpl of hours - to vote in the Pop Open "death" group: http://community.livejournal.com/poptimists/402025.html - what better way to pass a Sunday?

Did anyone listen to Live Earth then? Was it any good?

The...

...only bit of Live Earth I saw, Randy Jackson was singing along to John Mayer.

That was enough for me, I wanted to go and pollute after seeing that.

I saw a large chunk of it - with the sound off and subtitles on... (in Wetherspoons). It was quite funny that way, especially the parts that said SINGING IN PORTUGUESE or SINGING IN ROMANY like their translators had the weekend off. Spinal Tap had dancing dwarves and a minilith for Stonehenge - I wonder how many people didn't know they were a spoof band? After 25 years are they a spoof band any more?

THEY WERE NEVER A SPOOF BAND

I don't know re: Spinal Tap. They were on the Supernatural soundtrack last season, (with 'Stonehenge,' no less) which suggests they have been accepted into the Classic Rock Canon but the scene was a bit ridiculous, if also brilliant, so it might have been a deliberate use.

Good: Pussycat Dolls (the highlight IMHO), Foo Fighters, Spinal Tap ("nobody knows who they were, or what they were doing"), Bloc Party, Madonna with Gogol Bordello

Bad: Madonna without Gogol Bordello, James 'Rhymes With' Blunt, Duran 'Boring' Duran

Dreadful: Black Eyed Peas - out of tune, out of time, painful viewing

Is it too much to hope that Madonna's next album will be a gypsy punk affair produced by Gogol Bordello?
