weather tunes

As I think I promised somewhere, some top tunes from the weather  mixes I've been listing on my LJ this week.

Irma Thomas - Two Winters Long: My favourite female singer, her voice an unparallelled blend of the beautiful and the powerful.

Lee Perry - City Too Hot. A long and wonderful track by perhaps reggae's greatest producer.

Wreckless Eric - I Wish It Would Rain. One that didn't make it when Elvis Costello and Ian Dury did. Many will find his singing deeply horrible, but worth a try.

Move - Flowers In The Rain. Well I can't post a bunch of MP3s on Poptimists without including some proper pop, can I? I love Roy Wood.

Dramatics - In The Rain. Totally gorgeous soul at the turning point into the sweet soul of the '70s. Fairly obscure but completely irresistible.

Give them a try - I find it hard to believe that anyone wouldn't fall in love with at least a couple of these...

That Dramatics track is fantastic - love the spooky guitars on it - thanks Martin! (Obviously Flowers In The Rain is great too). Irma T - great voice yes, the song doesn't take me anywhere much tho.
