More random questions?

1. Was "This Corrosion" by Sisters Of Mercy ever not pop?

2. Has there ever been a greater contrast between sublime guest star contribution and irritating name artist contribution than Akon and Gwen on "Sweet Escape"?

3. What's going on here?

i spotted an ad for that on the tube the other day.

Hmm, seeing as what is and isn't pop can be quite subjective, I'd say yes: to 13 year old me, This Corrosion was almost the antithesis of pop, and I hated it. At some point subsequent to that I (a) began to love it and (b) realised it was sooooo pop. Sadly I can't remember which came first.

1. Heehee this is far too funny not to be pop!

2. I LIKE THIS SONG! It's better than Goatherd anyway. Both Gwen and Akon are ace on it. Rest of Gwen album apart from Yummy = k poor.

3. I also saw the ad for the 'Rock Disco' thing at Angel tube. I think it's because they've run out of titles like 'F1lthy Disco' or 'Sh1t Disco', so they thought they'd go for an even 'worse' word.

Sort of agree on #3 (The Riton remix of Lindstrom's 'Monsteer' is ace but not remotely "rock"). I assume they're trying to appeal to the Freeform Five/Modular/indie disco crowd here.

Same people who were buying the Luciana/Bodyrox song, I imagine.

I actually really like Gwen on 'Sweet Escape', because/despite the fact that her perforance is coy 'True Blue'-aping pandering...

He does a great little swooshing hand gesture to go with it in the video, too.

i'm a grumpy old fart, don't boot me from the group

I know this just means I lack any sense of fun, but I have to say that I have to say that Gwen's whole cartoon-whatever-style thing she's got going on I find actively repulsive, really. all she seems concerned with is doing oversized (and no doubt) alice-in-wonderland-ish videos. perhaps one day i will be able to forget the spectacle i have just seen and actually listen with detachment to the song (clearly it is less awful than the first single was). but not today. /end screed

The Akon thing really is great, though.

I'm pretty sure it's pop except for the time I saw Lambchop doing a cover.

Because they lack a sense of humour?
