POPTIMISTS 2006: The Verdict

Track of the year: Cansei De Ser Sexy - "Let's Make Love And Listen Death From Above"
Lifetime Achievement award: James Brown
Act of the year: Girls Aloud
Most awful thing: Sandi Thom
Other pop thing of 2006: YouTube
Argument of the year: The Paris Hilton Wars
Best to dance to 2006: The Knife - "We Share Our Mother's Health"
Video of the year: Fergie - "Fergalicious"
Genre of the year: R&B and Teenpop (tied)
Album of the year: The Knife - "Silent Shout"

Aside from track of the year I don't think ANY of the things I voted for won, which maybe explains why this seems an underwhelming set of results to me. Still, it was enjoyable to do and the threads were often really good, which is the point of it in the end.

NEW POLL FUN to follow very shortly.

it's underwhelming to you because the Knife were the closest to a sweep!

we haven't finished p&j yet have we?

the James Brown gong seems silly because if he hadn't croaked he wouldn't be there at all.

has anyone ever won a LIFEtime achivement award at a proper awards show after passing away suddenly?

Wasn't he nominated (including by me) before his death? As I've said elsewhere, for me he is the most important musician of the second half of the 20th Century, so he'd always get my vote.
