i'm sure you've all been DESPARATE to know what premier poptimism icon DAZ SAMPSON has been up to since he was so cruelly treated by the FOOLS of andorra/luxemburg/various other tiny european nations.

Well, popjustice reports that he is back! (back! BACK!! obv), with his own label "Sporting Riff Raff", which features a daz-laced semi-bosh cover (i don't think it's daz singing the main bit) of YOU CAN CALL ME AL, marvellous, there.

Also "sporting riff raff" the label also seems to feature "sporting riff raff" the BAND, again featuring our dazza and their ode to having a lovely night out Absolutely Wasted which is a towering monument to the Great British Public's fondness for binge drinking...

And that's before we get to Sampson and Mason and Uniting Nations (having difficulty loading their mice pace, i think this is due to MYSPACE BEING SH!T, obv). likes to keep himself busy then...

I am listening to "I Proceed" this very second. Bass seems to go back to the pushy dissonant early days of acid house, the break is a '70s soundtrack idyl of being marooned on a tropical island. Quite excellent, though even better is the crunk rock track that starts the alb.

Sorry, can't make it, but in the meantime, tell me about this Daz Sampson dude, who from MySpace evidence usually makes good but not quite great disco except when he makes bad but not quite terrible Eurovision entries. The Sampson-affiliated track that would be worth a link on the rolling teenpop thread - if the thread were rolling - is Betty Curse's "God That Hurts." Sporting Riff Raff "Absolutely Wasted" is a good though not quite great gang shout. He gets knocked down, but he gets up again, well sort of gets up [wobbles], thinks he'll rest for a bit...
