(Never) going live

Yesterday I realised that New Order were probably my favourite ACTIVE band that I had never seen live (tho I expect a few of you here have had the pleasure) and I probably never will. Not massively bothered by this as I never had a big urge to do so and have done relatively well over the years on the seeing favourite artists live at least once front despite not really going to gigs that often anyway.

Tell me who your favourite artist you've never managed to see live is (note the artist must still be alive and gigging occasionally if not often) in Comments, cheers.

Leonard Cohen, obv. Although I'm not sure if he counts, wrt gigging occasionally. He has sung songs in public recently, though. And there are always rumours flying about that he'll be touring soon.

Mind, if he did, chances of getting a ticket are probably so tiny that I wouldn't see him *anyway*. I would cry then.

Scott Walker obv doesn't gig (he did one track from Tilt live on Jools Holland, but that's all I know about), though he's had some recent interviews hinting at writing material that could be performed live... Therefore, from who actually really does gig, you can call me an indie, but I'd have to pick Will Oldham. Oh, there's Girls Aloud, but I've sorted that one out for next May...

Because I have a very poor grasp of the value of money, I've probably seen all my favourite favourite bands, so it would probably have to be someone who's a'ight, but vastly overpriced. Tom Waits? Massive Attack? (gulp) Placebo?

Girls Aloud. They will never play anywhere except Wembley Arena ever again. *sob*

They might play G-A-Y again. They played recently. The Astoria is about as small a venue as you're likely to see them play.

The Astoria is even worse than Wembley! After seeing Lily I decided that knocking down the Astoria = excellent idea.

Prince - yes!

I don't care about him now, but I had at least two chances to see him and just never motivated myself. Big mistake!

Are Squeeze still around? They've been on and off so many times over the last 20 years it's hard to tell.

Otherwise, Girls Aloud.

New Order, The Knife, Radiohead all spring to mind.

My number one (but I'm not sure how "still together" they are) is Underworld, though. Would kill to have seen them live.

JACKO!

I mean, he might well never play live again and if he did I have absolutely no idea whether it would be an awesome spectacle or an utter farce.

wait, didn't you see new order at glasto? oh no, cos you didn't come like the fun hata you are ;)

being not only a big indie, but a big ukindie, i have seen all my fave bands several times i think. ACTUALLY, the only one that springs to mind, amazingly, is

CARTER

who gig regularly. once a year is regularly...

Do the Cocteaus count?

No, it'd have to be THE FALL. I adore The Fall, but whenever they've played near me I haven't been able to go.

I'd love to see the Tindersticks and Jarvis C. too.
