Kon Kan - I Beg Your Pardon

A pun, i suppose on Can Con, the body that enforces a certain amount of airtime be awarded to Canadian artists on their homeland airwaves.

We were all big New Order fans when this came out, and to us 15 year olds hooked on Technique, it sounded pretty similar.

Does it still stand up 17 or so years later? The chorus sample treatment is a bit dated, but as for the rest?

Gosh, I haven't heard this since I was about 12, and hadn't noticed that it really does sound like New Order. It's better than I remembered!

One of the things I always loved about it was the fact the sample is the bridge from the original, rather than nicking the obvious bit (the chorus). Makes for a much more interesting record. Plus the fact the title confused all those people who didn' know the original. Great record.

my memory of this is it coming out before technique, but i guess it must have been about the same time.

it is one of the 12" vinyls i still have from the time. from the same era: starlight's numero uno!

Well, do you remember, short after they appeared, some girls decided they will also make I beg your pardon tune? Now that's rarity... still searching for them.
