The History Of Pop Part 59 aka Only turning into tigers when we gotta fight back

Now 59 - later 2004 - the Golden Age continues, or....? JoJo, Three Of A Kind, V, Khia, Eric Prydz - we may well not see their like again. On paper this looks set to have a clear winner - but who knows the secret paths down which anygoodatall science will lead us?

Now 58 ended in a DRAW! - and no, no untickings were involved. "Hey Ya" and "Some Girls" fight it out down at the bottom of this poll. Kelis was one vote behind, and Girls Aloud one vote behind that. Very close.

[Poll #776850]

MY NECK MY BACK (TICK IT)

Are people ticking it just cos it's Kelis? It really is the worst single she's released: it's OK and I ticked it but better r&b by less 'name' artists is getting overlooked here!

Like (segue!) the Pirates/Shola Ama single which may be even more heart-breaking and tear-jerking than the already emotionally extreme Mario Winans original. Both of them convey desperation and resignation simultaneously, how they both already know that a misunderstanding has permanently soured what they had - they're singing the same tune but they're not listening to each other.

Yes, it's the kind of perfectly pleasant aimless filler that sounds good when you're feeling lazy and it's hot outside, but as a song in its own right...it isn't one. It surely only got released as a single because of the Andre 3000 connection.

Good video, mind.

Is the Andre 3000 connection why you don't like this? I rather like this and think it's still much better than 90% of the stuff on this now, although why this was a much bigger hit than the far superior In Public I have no idea.

No, I do like it, I just think it's only OK where Kelis is usually mind-blowingly brilliant.

'In Public' wasn't a big hit because she released it approx a year after 'Millionaire' and didn't bother to promote it anywhere, it was kind of just...there to fill time and space.

I love 'Millionaire'! I think it is POIGNANT.

I have no idea what any of the lyrics are because they MUMBLE them all!

Yes, that Kelis single is lame and Andre 3000 needs to be erased.

nonsense. 'Millionaire' has Transformers sound effects in it.

judging by the "which is best" answer - busted should win this. and i just happen to think it's better than love machine =:-O

Sentimental favorites, innit? "Love Machine" is good, but NEVER one of the songs I think of when I think of GA.

The rest of this is mediocre at best though. GA should walk it.

I think I love it mostly because it sounds completely unlike anything else they ever did.

probably my favourite GA single actually (it alternates with 'The Show')

Yeah, same here, though I always end up going for 'No Good Advice' because it was their statement of intent and all that.

I DON'T THINK Y'ALL HEARD ME!

It's no Girls Aloud, granted, but it's still brilliant.
