The Poptimism Podcast is go
podcast feed (on iTunes) *
I see Rob Da Bank has just happend to jump on this bandwagon this week too - I blame me!
Week 1 of the podcast was posted last night. I'm aiming to do this once a week, updating on Thursday.* I hope this provides a service to the LAZY POPTIMISTS out there. Obviously only the ones who live in the future where you can listen to regularly updated "mp3 files" on "mp3 players". But still, week 0 showed enough initial interest to keep me going.
Each week I want to have a 5-10 minute download of songs, only 40-80 seconds of each track (should keep us pretty legal, right?), with a variety of things I think we might play at the (soon to be revived?) Poptimism club night. There's proper pop of the now, plus I'll drop in old favourites, and the odd "our friends made this!" bit.
I am entirely relying on the listeners, and poptimists everywhere, to point me (at poptimism.podcast@googlemail.com) at whatever sounds are exciting them RIGHT NOW. YSIs, mp3s, links. This week I put in some effort to find me some Ellen Allien and Furtado on my ownsome - which worked out fine!
What about the contributors? This week thanks to ver Grocott and GraciousViv and me, and probs someone else, sorry. i don't know if i should namecheck them on the episode info?
FEEDBACK WOULD BE NICE. Here, or at the same gmail addy. Obviously I can't satisfy everyone, but, snippets too short? not enough songs? what's with the f'ing old stuff? ect
Cheers, Alan
*technical note to the early adopters last week, you might notice that the feed address I've given up there is slightly different to the one you subscribed too. I will keep that address active, but a minor disagreement with Apple meant I had to change the address slightly, so you have nothing to worry about, but if you want to change to the "official" feed, feel free]
**I'm only early this week because this evening I am out seeing, er, an indie band. (THE indie band to be honest)

This shouldn't work:

for those not using software that just works, most rss/newsreaders should be able to use the rss feed i gave at the top and that should show the track info and some sort of control to download the associated mp3.

(Tho that works with regular newsfeeds, i might have to try to make it both a podcast and newsfeed, adding in title and summary elements for it to show the contents in LJ?? adding them won't invalidate the podcast elements)

I had no idea the Fall-ish track on 001 was a Silver Springs song. Well done them!

Re: also stylus singles jukebox
Totally off topic
Does Britney actually have a good voice? I remember when Britney vs. Xtina was new, someone saying that the bits in "One More More" than sounded like a sixteen-year-old couldn't have sung, weren't, whereas Xtina's bits were actually hers.
