interesting article (with handy pronunciation guide) to baile (BAY-lee) funk in sunday's OMM, including an interview with DJ Marlboro who, of course was introduced to us yeeeeeeeaaaaaaars ago by freakytigger and mentioned more recently here. the thing is the title of our favourite track "Super Popozuda" rather than refering to some great pop thing appears to be about bottoms, if we can interpret this sentence from the bellos article:

now i'm not saying that freakytigger somehow subliminally picked this up, but i'm not aware of him speaking portuganeuse...

Of COURSE I knew that it was about @rses. Admittedly I'd forgotten this again since I learned it.

One of the other funk tracks I found back in 91 turned out to mean "Do the face slap".

how come you never mentioned this fact in the writing about it, good thing i never sang along to it on the bus, there is quite a large brazilian population round our way ;)
