Hitz from Finland: decade edition - 2000

So to accompany the decade polling fun, I decided to bring back Hitz from Finland for a special edition! (It's obv too late for the currently polling year, but rest assured I will use future volumes to ahem canvas for votes, as it were. Muahaha!)

2000 was my last year of paying almost no attention to pop/radio/the charts/etc, so this is a bit more meagre than future editions are likely to be; retrospective research tells me, though, that 2000 was particularly marked by an absolute EXPLOSION of domestic hip hop in the charts. (The culprits behind this occurrance are, of course, represented in the listing below.)

Anyway, in the year 2000:

Perennial public's and critics' favourites CMX were all over the airwaves with this lovely little slow burner:

(Also, the video = WELL AWESOME)

Duo Fintelligens kicked off the hip hop boom with their debut album:

Girl group I'dees became a one hit wonder with ballad Time:

Lovely Kemopetrol followed up their '99 breakthrough hit with the tight, tense Disbelief:

(Nb somewhat crap-audioed live clip; there will before long be A Streaming Playlist of all non-youtubable tracks attached to these posts, and a proper version of this will be included there.)

Now venerable metal royalty Kotiteollisuus were skirting breakthrough with this single:

(The low-budget video is both hilarious and awesome to anyone familiar with prominent Helsinki statuary, incidentally.)

Reliable chart busters Kwan debuted with a well proper bang with these two singles:

And rapper Paleface made Star Wars geeks across the land rush to buy his single The Ultimate Jedi Mind Trick*:
