Last week Marvellous Marvin and his Gayers topped the ticks of '69 with 29 smackers for Heard It Through The Grapevine. Marmalade trailed in last with just 3. That's what you get for covering the rubbishest Beatles song! This week it's a new millennium and we have an ENORMOUS amount of songs for you to choose from, largely thanks to the major labels cottoning on to the fact that they could buy up a bunch of 99p singles themselves and propel their latest act straight to the top. But corporate spending power is no match for the legion of Manics fans...

I was victim of GOVERNMENT orga-fun, viz a tiny bottle of Tesco champers was all the booze I received (to be fair I was only 17, tho had already developed a moderate booze problem). Plus my parents came with me! I also received a phone call at 10.45pm from my then boyfriend* saying that he'd been in a fight at the Scruffy Murphys in Uxbridge and his 'mate' G had punched some girl or something & half the pub had been arrested. Luckily I had spent most of the day having teh sechs just in case the apocalypse happened at midnight etc so I was in a good mood.

*I had a DREAM about said boyfriend last night, that we were still going out and he came up to me and said "you know, we haven't spent much time together in the last six years have we?" and I was like er no we haven't have we, sorry, but NOT REALLY SORRY mwahahahah.

i wz v.skeptical of YK2 and RIGHTLY SO but just to be on the safeside i "stockpiled" food against the coming social meltdown = bought three extra cans of tinned carrots

haha, my mam bought a tin of pek chopped pork and ham, which may STILL be in her cupboard...

ha ha, i went to Uxbridge Scruffy Murphys for NYE '98 altho ended up in The Old Bill for midnight itself (dancing to Prince, R Kelly and god knows what else). against all odds actually a v good night.

Ah. NYE 98 I went to Mental Lydia's party and got off with Ben Beadle while everyone was outside watching the fireworks. Far drunker than the next year.

PS Ben later turned out to be the biggest ghey ever. We all knew really.

my NYE 98 into 99 was the alexandra palace New ORder Underworld Chem Bros spectacular. it was tremendous

i went to Ally Pally for NYE 97 which was good except i was on my own (amongst thousands) for most of it :(
