It would appear the punters disagreed, esp. in America. And so he had to make a back-to-basics country/folk album two years later to atone for the commercial suicide (actually 'Trans' could've sold quite well I have no idea really, just assuming it was poorly received).

after one of his other non-standard LPs he got sued by his record company for "not making properly neil young-ish music" (forget exact words)!
