Girls Aloud - Call The Shots

+ Nicola has the best bit all to herself
+ The stars go all whooshy after her big build-up which looks kinda cool
+ The song is still uber-awesome and I want to go and listen to it again right now pls.

- Cheryl and Sarah's fringes have been trimmed by their MUMS with a mixing bowl.
- No dancing. I know the lasses aren't exactly Queens of Choreography but a mid-paced song like this would really suit their slow-motion arm-waving etc.
- Kimberley looks well gormless when she's doing her makeup in the mirror.
- They spent all their budget on 'Sexy! No No No' so we're back to standing around in some sand and pouting.

Wot no I Know Him So Well?

BBC 6 Music have unveiled their Top 40 Duets as voted for by their listeners. But which ones are the best? Canon rules apply, THIRTEEN ticks across the lot. Some stretch the definition of 'duet' slightly!

They're justified and they're ancient.... )

wtf

"Charting the tragically short life of Joy Division front man Ian Curtis -- who died at just 23 -- Anton Corbijn directs this slick biopic charting his brief life as he struggles with fidelity, responsibility and crippling epileptic fits. It's lit by brilliant performances, but there seems to be a twinkling deeper turmoil here, that the film doesn't quite capture." — the london paper

John McCain: Poptimist

During a campaign bus swing through South Carolina today, Sen. John McCain demonstrated his love of hot dogs and declared his love of ABBA. The comments about the Swedish group came up on the bus as he talked about what’s on his iPod.

“Dare I say ABBA. Everybody says, ‘Ehhh, ABBA.’ Why is that? ABBA was the largest selling (recording act ever). Nobody likes them but they sold more records than anybody in the history of the world, including the Beatles. But everybody hates them. (But) you’re a no-class guy if you like ABBA. Why does everybody go see ‘Mamma Mia?’ Hypocrisy! Rank hypocrisy! I’m not embarrassed to say I like ABBA, ‘Dancing Queen.’”

More from McCain. If elected, “the background music would be ABBA in the elevators all over the White House.”

And even more.

“‘Take a Chance on Me.’ Maybe that’s what we should have as our (campaign) theme song. That would be good.”
