Craig David all over your Bowie

I think the above is a fine example of how to use a sample in an R'n'B track:

  • Takes the best bits of the original (I can't believe half the bassline was missing from the recent Hi-Tack bosh-up)
  • And leaves out the rubbish bits (not so tricky in this case as the original is pretty awesome)
  • Adds extra whoomph, clicks and bleeps to the original (rather sparse) beat, ensuring dudes can actually dance to the track in nightclubs across the land
  • Adds an awesome melody/singing over the top without obscuring the greatness of the sample (take note Sean Kingston!)
  • Doesn't spoil enjoyment of the original song: for example, only using the "aaaah, aaaah, aaaah, AHHHHH" bit once a) makes for a really effective intro b) preserves it up for Dave Bowie to do more often in his song.

I am quite sad that Youtube have taken down the actual video for this :( It had excellent dancing and Craig has stopped looking weird!
