In a slightly different vein to the normal canons, this poll includes some rather unorthodox elements as dictated by Me. This is because we already know what the best Human League singles are: Love Action, Sound Of The Crowd and Tell Me When. This canon therefore is not in fact canon! It's META, innit. So tick as many of the following not-Human-League-singles as you please!

I Love Bosh And Roll

If you came to Poptimism, thankyou and I hope you enjoyed it.

If you didn't, see you at the next one!

(Which won't be at the way too hot Slaughtered Lamb)

New Poptimism Anthems

"I Love Rock N Roll" (bosh vers.)
"Ain't No Other Man"
Ciara vs The Killers
"Gold Digger" (I finally 'got' this song)
MY HUMPS

I am looking at the 00s CDs I made - SO MUCH great stuff we didn't play. There must be another one soon.

NEW FEATURE!

After Friday's wranglings it came to me that what we need is some kind of scientific way of working out exactly how pop various acts are. I was going to call this simple feature the POPOMETER but [livejournal.com profile] awesomewells came up with a better name.

The idea is very simple - on a 1 to 10 scale, tell us how pop a particular act is. A score of 1 would be given to someone like Nurse With Wound, who are not very pop at all. A score of 10 might go to Britney Spears, or ABBA, both of whom are extremely pop. Over the weeks the results of these polls will build up to a body of incontrovertible evidence as to the popticity of our hott music starz.

[Poll #782116]

(If you neither know nor care who the Lex is just give the same answer to both questions!)

ToTP RIP

So farewell Top of the Pops.
Just like John Peel, you were always a bit rub,
If truth be told.
Yesterday's extended episode was a particular horror.
Talk about coming to bury not to praise.
Blimey eh?

The History Of Pop Part 61 aka Nim Nim Nim Nim

RIGHT. Let's get this one over with. Now 61 is not a very good Now album. The impression of badness is enhanced by Now's sudden decision to move all the great pop tracks to the arse end of disc 2, part of the general loss of faith in pop that was sweeping the blogosphere world in 2005, at least before this very community came along to SORT IT OUT.

Gwen Stefani is your winner on Now 60, by the way.

Is it just the margaritas or are you lookin at me? )
