The Top 40 Singles poll for March is pretty much done and dusted and it's looking good for the babes in red. Tomorrow I will publish the full first quarter results in exciting chart form and we revisit April - ah, was it really only a few weeks ago? Yes.

I've also been thinking about putting a site together that lists and archives Release Schedules for singles in the UK properly - to perhaps also include archive listing of the top 75 singles week by week (although for some mysterious reason the Powers That Be are a bit funny about the idea of people publishing THEIR data freely, so we'll see about that). Any suggestions welcome in the comments box.

i suggest: go outside, meet people, see the sunshine a bit, maybe look at a tree. possibly even take up a hobby (NB the internets ARE NOT a hobby), brass rubbing perhaps?

TRI-NA! I can't believe she got in the UK charts. I also can't believe she ended a verse with "blah blah blah blah blah/blah blah blah blah blah" (NB the song is still fantastic HOWEVER - the original version apparently featured Teedra Moses! Who would have been so much better than Kelly Rowland!)

People should check out her Glamorest Life album - it's nowhere near as good as her tour de force Diamond Princess (what is?) but it's still v crunk and banging. The best song, 'I Gotta', opens with her literally bellowing "I got a FAT PUSSY for a COCKSUCKER".

i have this nagging feeling i am supposed to do something more useful than brass rubbing, is all.

going out in the sun and socialising is all well and good but it's not going to get me a higher technorati rating IS IT?

what have people got against The Pipettes? they don't seem THAT bad.

i'm not saying they are bad, but they hav eno place in the top 40, unless they were doing backing vocals on eg a cover version of a song from south pacific or similar...

but what about all the other far worse rubbish that gets in the top 40?

so is it their 'amateurishness' then? are they bad singers?

fathands doesn't like them either but i'm not sure why - perhaps this sense that other bands did this sort of thing better in the past.

I think they should only be allowed in the charts if they do a cover of the Sheilas' Wheels theme tune.
