POP TRUMPS: Week 5

Another Friday, another round of chart farts Pop Trumps!

Go here to read the rules, but it's easy really. Rate the pop act below in the various categories: 10 is the highest, 0 is the lowest, if you have zero clue then go for 5.

Today's contestants were doing a Top 50 Brilliant Boybands thing on Hits!TV the other night, and modestly only included 5 of their own songs! They also like pointing at things.

Kanye's video for 'Flashing Lights' is COMPLETELY INSANE: http://youtube.com/watch?v=mEccxPPwXmI (no embedding)

Also: this is the first grand, high-concept pop video I've seen which, instead of bloating the song into a nine-minute veritable short film (JT I'm looking at you), cuts it off randomly and for no discernible reason three quarters of the way through. Surely there must be a Part 2! We can't leave Kanye like that! (I'm not putting any spoilers in this post, you'll have to watch it yourselves to find out exactly why.)

(The song is great, obv, definitely one of the stronger Graduation cuts: love the woozy, druggy electronic haze which characterises the album's midsection. Also, some totally nutty (and possibly very terrible) lyrics, from "till I get flashed by the paparazzi - damn, these niggas got me, I hate these niggas more than the Nazis" to "hey Mona Lisa come home, you know you can't Rome without Caesar" DO YOU SEE WHAT HE DID THERE.)
